  • Yea I was pretty upset about the $10 fee. I called Sprint about another matter and then it I realized on my bill I was getting charged an additional fee and I asked them what it was for. The said it was for the 4g service. I said there is no 4 g service in my area, but It is scheduled to be available by the end of the summer. I asked if they could remove the $10 charge until I can actually use the 4 g service and they said they couldn't. They said it was for more than the 4g service, it was also for the hd video and for the youtube in hd. I was pretty pissed, but he said there was nothing I could do so here I am at explain the fee telling you my experience with sprint. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this phone, but I feel if i am going to pay for something i SHOULD be able to use it. That's just me.

@ Ray: I don't really see how you would use more data on 4G than 3G. I understand that people will be able to utilize the internet better on the new network, but we would be paying for UNLIMITED internet usage already. And the way you put it it's like a 5MB file on 3G would somehow become 8MG on 4G.
Don't get me wrong, I like this phone and intent to purchase it when it becomes more readily available, but it would be great if we could receive a proper explanation of this $10 few we're being thrown beforehand. I'd even be comfortable if they create a new set of plans specifically for 4G phones and tell us it's for building and maintaining the network. That's a more feasible explanation than what we have so far. (And of course, people who are not currently in a 4G area would not have to pay until the network is properly setup and running there.)

Here is my question that I would like you to address. You focus on what Sprint says about the hardware in their explanation for the fee yet completely ignore that it is about the data and even in Sprint's explanation they talk about data. You will use more data with this phone even if you are in a 3g area. Why don't you ever talk about this?

A response from Dan about 3g/4g pricing structures. Unfortunately, nothing else about the $10 monthly charge for the life of the phone that you already purchased. Orig. Jun 3rd on Engadget:
